Shirt…

I’ve been wanting to get an ‘Equipment’ shirt for ages. Why?

Because it’s a classic!

It’s as classic as Chanel 2.55.

It’s as classic as your first pair of jeans (even-though you didn’t know it at the time).

It’s as classic as Persol sunglasses.

It’s as classic as your old Rolling Stones T-shirt.

So here’s my first ever Equipment shirt, I got it in black and I’m already planning to get it in different colors. It’s so comfy I hope you like it as much as I do?

My tip of the week….. Squeeze your own!

Why go to all the bother, and mess, of squeezing your own fruit juice on a morning?

Firstly though, what exactly do I mean by ‘FRESH’? Well, I mean, chopped in half and squeezed right there and then in front of you before you drink it. Loads of stuff in the supermarkets will tell you it’s ‘freshly squeezed’, it can taste delicious and when the poor little buggers were originally plucked from the trees and ‘squidged’ they were fresh, however they were then treated, usually with heat, so they could sit on the shelf for several days, even weeks. All the nutrients are gone or at least in the main.

When you drink freshly squeezed citrus fruit, you absorb up to 80% more of the nutrients, minerals & vitamins that you would otherwise be missing out on. It’s also good for your organs, juicing your fruit reduces the amount of work your digestive system has to do and benefit the health of the liver & kidneys. This leads to better immunity and overall long-term health.

What’s stopping you?

- One glass of fresh orange juice contains your essential daily dose of Vitamin C

- Fresh citrus juice contains ‘flavonoids’, they lower blood pressure and cholesterol.

- As well as being high in antioxidants it’s high in dietary fibre, thiamine and folates.

- Drinking fresh juice can reduce the damage done by free radicals to the cells in our bodies.

- There are so many different flavonoids and phyto-nutrients in fresh juice that researchers say they can prevent many degenerative diseases, even cancer!

NOW GO MAKE JUICE!!!!

Good morning LA LA land!

My mum Eva…

It’s mother’s day back in England (US and Czech republic still have few weeks to go, until May). I thought I would dedicate this post to my stunning & stylish mum. My mum has influenced me so much, not only my style, she taught me how to sew and design patterns so I can make my own clothes, will post some examples soon. Above all she is a huge inspiration and an example to me. I had the best childhood and the best support and encouragement from both her and my super cool father, in everything I did and do.

I love the summer dress my mum’s wearing in the meadow, I wonder where it is, I’ve never asked???

Here is my stylish MAMKA!

PS: Happy mother’s day to all the crazy and inspiring mums (in England for now), especially to Janet!

This is me, landing in Los Angeles…

…It’s been a while since I lived on the West Coast and God I miss this place. I miss the weather, as much as I love London and I do, it’s not always the best weather-wise. I miss hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains, I miss running on the beach, past the Baywatch Tower in Malibu, soundtrack on my iPod pretending I’m Nicole Eggert in slow motion.

I miss all the local fresh produce, even the ‘Whole Foods Market’ stores here seem better than their counterparts in NYC & London. I miss dining Al Fresco, celeb spotting and pretending I’m so cool I don’t care. I miss trips to Napa, the National Parks, San Fran, Las Vegas, San Diego & a quick hop to Hawaii. I miss driving West on Mullholland Drive at sunset, before hitting the Pacific Coast Highway and heading north for a cocktail in ‘Moonshadows’ as the sun disappears into the ocean.

I miss been shocked by the plastic fantastic and the gaggles of mums or pensioners exercising in gangs on the sea front, as dolphins play off shore. I miss the Sushi (best outside Japan), the poolside bars and both surfing & skiing on my doorstep. I miss shopping in ‘Resurrection Vintage’ and getting the best stuff before they ship it East to their Manhattan store. I even miss my favorite ghost ship ‘The Queen Mary’ and the quaint little tram that takes you to the amazing Getty Centre.

It’s so great to be back, I’m not here long and there’s a hell of a lot to cram in. So off I go, forget jet lag, no time! Gonna pick up a car and get busy! So exciting!

My tip of the week… SLEEP!

Let me start by saying I simply love SLEEP. I’ve written many ‘tips’, but without sleep the others are only worth 50% of their potential! It may seem obvious, but sleep is probably more important than you think when it comes to both a healthy lifestyle and a successful career.

Yeah we’ve all had those days when every little act feels like too much, and the only words that echo around your head are, “I just can’t be bothered!” 9 times out of 10 the reason for this is lack of sleep.  The benefits of sleep impact nearly every area of daily life.

According to Harvard Medical School (which has a ‘Division of Sleep Medicine’, can you believe it!), your body needs sleep in the same way it needs food, drink and air. This explains why, after a good night’s sleep you feel better, your thoughts are clearer, and you’re less likely to have an emotional tantrum!

London’s one and only ‘Ottolenghi’

‘Ottolenghi’ is more of a cafe or a deli than a restaurant, here you can get dishes you’ve never tasted before, prepared with a completely fresh approach. The recipes are inspired by different cuisines from around the world, yet each is completely original and includes new ingredients mixed in unexpected ways. Ottolenghi is UNUSUAL in the best kind of way!

You’ll get to choose your meal from fresh displays right at the counter, which is hard, because you kinda want to eat everything once you see it. There is also a temptation to go straight to the mouth watering desserts, DON’T! They’ll taste all the better after your main course, I usually opt to choose from 2 different salads and a meat dish.
