My tip of the week…Emergen-C

It’s a multi vitamin sachet, simple as that.

However it works wonders, I haven’t found an alternative that provides so many vitamins and minerals at once and keeps me from getting ill.

I do not like to take supplements separately, as I believe that vitamins and minerals work in synergy and are most effective when combined together, that’s what Emergen-C offers. The fact that it tastes good, you can get ‘Tropical’, ‘Triple Berry’, ‘Super Orange’ and many other flavors, is just a nice bonus.

I’ve noticed that whenever I forget to take Emergen-C or run out of it for a few days, these are the days I tend to get ill or feel run down.

It’s a powder, which I prefer to pills as you mix it with water and therefore drink more. Also, most pills contain fillers that can raise allergies.

They are brilliant for traveling, which I love as you know how I like to recharge and stay hydrated on flights. Funnily enough when a flight gets cancelled in the US you are often given a ‘survival kit’, it includes a tooth brush, tiny little tooth paste and a sachet of EMERGEN-C!

So what’s in it?

I am not gonna bore you with all the ingredients, but just to demonstrate how effective this sachet is:

Vitamin C, which should be an obligatory daily intake for anyone, unless you can squeeze & drink around 22 oranges a day (that’s how many you’d need to equal the 1000mg in each sachet). Studies have also proven that a daily intake of Vitamin C can actually help to prevent high blood pressure and even a heart attack!

You’ll also find folic acid, brilliantly combined with vitamins B12 and B6, together they fight kidney disease, depression, Alzheimer’s and any cardiovascular disease. I know I know, enough of this, I guess, that’s my time spent in medical school…

Where to get it?

USA- very easy as it’s a US product. You’ll find it in any pharmacy, Duane Reade, Walgreens or Rite Aid but I would definitely recommend buying a full pack in the Vitamin Shoppe as it’s half the price of anywhere else.

UK- The Whole Foods Market, unfortunately they sell them only by sachets not as full packs and they are hugely over priced. I always stock up when in the US, but if you can’t, their UK website is: Emergen-C UK

Europe: Order it from the UK website or tell a friend, I give them out a lot as Christmas presents!
