NYFW women!

Here are a few snaps I took at the latest New York Fashion Week, a selection of ladies who inspired me the most.

I feel that the various fashion weeks around the world are becoming a bit of a freak show (at least on the streets), I’ll post some snaps soon that are inspiring in a different kind of way I guess? So many people turn up to venues these days hoping to get attention by simply going over the top, trying to shock. These people are very rarely attending the shows, they tend to hang around outside hoping to be photographed and get a feeling of fame I guess, in honesty, I admire their confidence.

The women here stayed true to themselves, yet looked gorgeous and inspiring. I love the simplicity which in itself has become so original.

I know we can no longer wear these little clothes, but it’s nice to have something to look forward to next season, with a warm cup of tea in our hands during the hurricane!

Keep warm and be safe everyone! x

Amsterdam

It’s 4am and I’m just heading off to the airport for a change!

It’s cold, foggy and rainy outside and I needed a huge reason to get out of bed. I had one, my super brave sister who having just finished law school in the Czech republic has decided to up anchor and move to the Netherlands. Here is her new blog, it’s especially great for anyone who decides to do the same thing and move to Amsterdam.

I’ve visited the Netherlands so many times for work over the last 10 years, so this time I’m planning to relax and do some serious sightseeing. Stay tuned for my favorite places, “3 days out of the office: Amsterdam” post coming soon.

Now seriously, off to the airport!!

Last day of NYC castings

This photo is from my last Friday in NYC. I finished my castings with a walk in my favorite place The High Line, the most calming and beautiful place I know in the city. It was only a quick stroll, there’s always a lot to do before I leave. I tend to panic about who and what I haven’t seen and try to fit everything into a day, so typical.

I’m back in London now and so excited. I’ve been running a couple of times and the parks are so beautifully spooky, fog bouncing off the lakes that reflecting the colorful Autumn (Fall) leaves, letting me know that Halloween is coming. Some serious pumpkin carving is happening in my house at the moment.

I was wearing a lot of my new season addi(c)tions, but mostly just keeping myself warm: Maje coat, Rag & Bone hat, J.Crew denim shirt, Helmut Lang leather leggins, Rag & Bone boots and Prada bag.

BACK IN LONDON! IT’S GONNA BE THE BEST TWO MONTHS!

I’m testing…

As you know I’m an enthusiastic runner.

The one thing that slows me down from time to time is my knees.

So after getting a great pair of trainers with a solid cushion support, I decided to try the running pants by CW-X (here is where to find them).

They are meant to squeeze you in (that works magic by itself) and support you to run the correct way. They have a specially designed ‘Support Web’, which helps to band muscles and ligaments together and take the strain away from the knees.

I’ve done few runs wearing them and so far so good! My knees were definitely able to keep up for longer distances and they didn’t hurt afterwards as usual. I’ve bought a second pair already! Will keep you posted as I’m running half marathon in these at the end of November.

PS: I’ll post some exercises soon that concentrate on your hip muscles, these will also help you run correctly and take the strain away from the knees.

My newest season ADDI(C)TIONS

Fall has definitely arrived in NYC, and the first COLD days have made their presence felt. Okay, compared to what I know is to come in the winter, it’s not exactly cold yet…

Whenever I’m in NYC in September I become a softie, it’s still nice and warm and has those summer smells, so this sudden change in October can be a shocker! (although in London it’s been raining non stop for over a month!)

To prepare myself for the coming colder days I’ve spoiled myself a little, I thought I’d share my new season finds.

No. 1 Maje coat

I love the simplicity of this overcoat. I actually got this one in London’s Selfridges.

My favorite Maje store in NYC: Maje, 417 Bleecker St (corner of 8th Ave)

Maje store in London: 182A Kings Rd, SW3 (Chelsea)

My tip of the week… The ultimate salad dressing

It’s been a while since my last ‘tip of the week’, so here we go:

I’ve recently started sprinkling my salads with organic ‘Beauty oil’ (by Viridian), instead of just an olive oil dressing.

It’s a great source of essential fatty oils: Omega 6 and Omega 3.

Including these fats in our diet is absolutely vital for our health.

These essential oils have been proven to reduce risk of cancer, heart disease, allergies, eczema, depression and many other diseases:

Omega 6 fatty oils and it’s conversions prevent blockages by keeping blood thin, lowering blood pressure and helping to maintain the body’s water balance. They also improve immune and nerve functions.

Omega 3 oils and it’s conversions are essential for proper brain function, as well as also maintaining the body’s water balance, controlling fat levels and improving your body’s immune system and metabolism.

It’s snack time! Guacamole celery sticks

Let’s snack again! I’m such a snacker, as I do get hungry every 3 to 4 hours. If I don’t eat anything I get grumpy very quickly.

I find this is the best way to include celery in my diet. Let’s admit it, I’m not a massive fan of celery, raise your hands who is (hmmmm…)?

Guacamole is a great dip and icelery is better than dipping tortilla chips in it. You can of course dip in any favorite veggies.

I’m an avocado geek, so guacamole is a perfect spoiling snack for me.

Hotel Room Routine #1

10 simple exercises, 2 bottles of water, 1 chair and a pair of trainers.

These exercises can be done ANYWHERE and ANYTIME, no excuses!

I can easily go a full month without staying in the same place for more than 2 nights and that’s when it gets tricky to squeeze in some exercise, especially after the late night flights and early morning call times.

Therefore I invented my ‘HOTEL ROOM EXERCISE ROUTINE’.

Just 10 simple exercises, a different 10 each time I get bored (Routine #2 to come soon), I do them when I get into my room, when the hotel gym is either closed, too small or filled with watchers (well, weirdos), instead of people who actually want to work out.

It’s worked magic for me, it doesn’t take much time and you can do it even when you’re super duper tired. We live such busy lives, so taking a bit of time for yourself is amazingly beneficial and refreshing.
