NYC shopping guide: Muleh

August 6, 2012

You know how it is when you loose touch with someone?

I first started modeling in Athens when I was just 16, I shared a room with two other girls. Angelija from Bosnia and Sarah from Italy.

They were the best, we did everything together, supported each other immensely, went to all our castings and whenever we could afford it we ate gyros together in our favorite place. Even-though we swore we’d keep in touch after those amazing and intense 2 months, eventually over the years we lost contact. Each of us went our different ways, living in different countries.

I’ve often wondered what the girls got up to and if I’d ever see them again. I wondered if Angelija still lived in her home country that she loved so much and if Sarah had been able to follow her dream of an acting career in Milano.

Then, one day around 2 months ago I was happily shopping in one of my favorite NYC stores, Muleh and bang, all of a sudden I run into this gorgeous tall blonde. It actually took me a while to realize that it was my Sarah, right here in NYC, 12 years since we last saw each other. What a small and wonderful world!

Anyway, apart from being a great meeting place, Muleh stocks totally great clothes, mostly from British designers that are harder to get hold of in the US, Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania being one. The French, Italian and American designer names can be found here aplenty as well, Ter et Bantine, MM6, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Sea NY to name a few.

You may remember Muleh in Washington DC? Well, this is it’s younger sister, it quite recently opened in the Meatpacking district following DC’s success. It also sells minimalistic and organic- feeling furniture.

Come here to shop for some great furniture, to get inspired, or maybe, just maybe meet long lost friend!
