Hotel Series: The Maritime, NYC

I’ve shot in this hotel so many times and it’s quite easy to see why. This New York institution has been around since the sixties but only opened as a hotel in 2003.  Just walking past it on the busy Chelsea street makes you stop and check it out properly.

As the name suggests, everything is designed in a ‘maritime’ or nautical theme. It has a very sixties feel and the light through the lobby windows always creates a beautiful atmosphere, softening the solid blue color of the chairs and sofas. Even if you’re not planning on staying here, come anyway to check the model of the Titanic, have a meeting by the fire place in the reception or dine in their restaurant, La Bottega. Perhaps say hello to the local ghosts, maybe one of the previous guests – sailors, runaways, Chinese artists and more. At the very least, take a look at the world differently, through their famous round windows!

Let me introduce you to…Veronika

I first officially met Veronika only 2 years ago at a charity event in the Czech republic, but I’ve known of her for 12 years! We both started modeling and traveling around the same time and we, the Czech girls, always keep an eye on each other.

She is such an honest person and such a hard worker! She says things the way they are and doesn’t walk around the subject, which I appreciate, I admire her bravery and sincerity.

In here career she’s worked with designers such as Matthew Williamson and Phoebe Philo and yet she’s a total girl next door who you feel so comfortable spending time with.

So let me introduce you to the amazing Veronika Fasinova and perhaps inspire you with this interview to visit our home country:

iDNES.cz

Here is an article about NYC shopping I co-wrote and photographed for the Czech newspaper iDnes. It was published last Monday and I am really proud I could share my experience.

I’m afraid it’s only available in Czech at the moment, but soon I’ll publish a complete NYC shopping guide here on my blog, so stay tuned. For now, here are my favorite NYC shops I’ve previously mentioned:

Castor & Pollux

Maryam Nassir Zadeh

Inspiration No.22 … LONDON!

London currently has the best atmosphere I’ve ever experienced, anywhere! People are excited, friendly, brilliantly lost with their maps, happy and very chatty. What is more, I wish we had this lovely security team, managed by the British army, at the airports all the time!

What an amazing time to be in London, and it ain’t over yet!
